Spark trouble

Hi, looking for some help here. On Thanksgiving I went out started my car let it run for about 15 minutes then pulled it back into the garage. Car started good and I had no problems. Fast forward to Sunday night. I go outside try starting the car and nothing. I check for fuel and it's okay. I check for spark and nothing. I pull the coil wire off the distributor and check for spark coming from there. Nothing. Okay, so I go to O'Reilly's and grab a new coil. Hook it up and still nothing. I figured it was the coil that went bad. Seeing as that doesn't seem to be the problem anyone else have a guess? Thanks!

Phil

Nothing? I'm guessing it at least cranked normally.

Even if it cranked, what is the SECURITY or ANTI-THEFT lamp on the dash doing?

How about ignition control module or pickup coil?

It is cranking normal. The security light comes on when I turn the key. The motor just cranks. It has a new ignition module. I am going to check the pick-up coil now. Also, the Vats was bypassed a few months ago and has been no problem since then. Thanks!

Okay, am I an idiot. Where in the heck is the pick-up coil. I know what they look like on older cars (sort of like a small silver tube looking thingy) but when I take the cap off the dist. all I see is the ignition module and something I am guessing to be the advance pieces for the dist. Anyone have a clue on what I am looking for? Thanks!

The pick-up coil is on the distributor shaft above the igniton module and below the pole piece. and has two wires that plug into the ignition module inside the distributor. I hope you plugged the wires into the module. If you didn't, that is where your problem is

Okay, so that is the piece that I thought was the timing weights. I hooked the two wires back up. It seems very rusty, could that be the problem? Thanks!

I'm having the same problem too on my 91. Iwas wondering if you found the problem with it . I did all the same replacing of parts that u did. Was the pickup coil the problem or is your sevice light still going on?

It ended up being a bad ignition module. I had just replaced it but I guess I got a bad one. I tested everything and finally just said screw it maybe this thing was bad. If you have tested the pick up coil and are sure your coil is good test the module.
