people who make wireing harnesses.
what do you use to wrap the wires together as you're making it..
the factory uses somthing LIKE electrical tape, but it doesnt stick to the wires bad, or make a mess.....
i was considering some of that "sticks only to itself" tape like this but i doubt thats the correct stuff to use.
i dont want to use zip ties because as i work, i may add or remove wires...
basicly im removing all of the TBI and extra wires, in preperation to hook up my LS1.
im also using "GM standard color coded" wire to use factory relays to turn on my headlights.. nice and bright.

last car we swapped engines in we just reused the factory wire looms and taped the ends of them so they would stay put and connect to the next
believe it or not it looks factory

this means the stuff that stays, like interior power, gauge inputs, and such remains, while stuff like motor sensors, fuel injector wiring, ect, goes....
then i just take the plugs that used to go to the old ECM, and replace them with what needs to goto the new PCM...
all in all, a good bit of work. but in the end, i have a factory 4thgen LS1 harness, unmolested.

You want that wire harness to look super trick and be one of a kind?
Try using this stuff, it is fantastic. http://order.waytekwire.com/IMAGES/M37/catalog/217_106

plus, while the OEMs do use that kind of stuff, its impossible to use if you have to put wires in and out of the harness.. once the connectors are on, you cant slip that stuff over them.
im just going to be using the regular split tubing stuff....

But you can slip that covering over connectors, it expands like a chinese finger puzzle.

Get yourself a huge container of zip ties, build the harness and hold it together with them, once its done, wrap the tape in spots where you want it taped, the zip ties will hold the wire tight as possible already, and when you want to add / remove stuff they're cheap to toss so you just clip it off and keep going.
