can't start car with key!

my ignition switch is all messed up, i can turn the key to the run position, but when i turn it passed that it doesn't spin the starter. luckilly i have a remote starter, so i can still drive it.

Does anybody have any idea how i might go about replacing the ignition switch?

Try adjusting it first, it may have slipped. You need to lower the steering column then about half way down it on the top is the ignition switch with the highbeam switch just up from it. The very bottom screw (phillips) in the switch needs to be loosened 1/2 turn, then the top screw (9/32" socket) loosened (not the one that mounts the highbeam switch to ignition switch..the other top one). Then slide the switch on the column a little in the opposite direction the rod moves when you turn the key and tighten the screws and try starting the car again.

If the switch won't work after adjusting it...remove all 3 screws, highbeam switch, disconnect the ignition switch harness, roll the ignition switch over and remove 2 small phillips screws holding the inhibitor on the switch and remove the inhibitor from the switch...remove switch. Assemble in reverse order.

New switch from Auto Zone or the like should run about $20.

i do have the chip in my key, but since i have the remote start i had to disable the vats, so if i need to replace it I don't think i have to worry about that.
