You will also need the hatch release relay, the hatch pull down unit and the wiring. I will e-mail you the schematics for it tomorrow along with a trouble chart.

I believe you'd want to install the entire hatch motor assembly. Not to advertise, but I've got a complete hatch motor assembly in the classifieds.

His car should already have a hatch pull-down unit. All he needs to do is swap the manual hatch release on it for the solenoid hatch release . He'd also need to add a ground wire from the 10mm screw that attaches the solenoid release to the pull-down. The other end of the ground wire attaches to the ground location on the body below the hatch pull-down unit. You'll need to run a +12v wire from the solenoid relay back to the solenoid. The relay you're seeing below the hatch pull-down unit isn't for the solenoid release. It is for the hatch pull-down unit. The hatch release solenoid on Firebirds is located in the dash behind the where the switch goes. On Camaro it is located beside the emergency braks and grounds through the e-brake. Firebirds should have a ground through the e-brake also, but I haven't confirmed it yet. Look at the schematics Trickster has sent you.

Is it possible to get a copy of the schematics and the trouble chart from somebody? I have problems with the one installed on mine. I thought the hatch was bent but maybe the motor is just stuck.

Scorpner, you have e-mail.
87and93birds, that connection that you are looking for is a red/white wire that goes to the "LID" fuse. It is an inline fuse located by the fuse panel, it is probably buried in the wire bundle there.
