cigarette lighter blowing fuses

ok heres the story, ever since i bought my 92 z the cigarette lighter was missing. then one day i tried to plug an accessory into the lighter and nothing happend. so i took the guage trim off and it wasnt plugged in. so i plugged it in and it blew the acc. fuse. so i tried it two more times and it blew the fuse two more times. any ideas on what is going on.

The housing is shorting out the wire. It is either bad or maybe there's a penny or something down in there causing it to short. With the power lead unplugged, check if the power terminal on the housing has continuity to ground. If so and there is no foreign object in it, replace housing.
