I recently payed $50 + shipping to get a set of these from ebay... glass lense, metal housing...

now I walk into AZ and see these on the shelf! wow... so cheap, and they are EXACTLY the same as ours...

just thought I'd point it out...

Although, I wonder if there are better aftermarket fogs that fit in the same location? Everyone else seems to have brighter fogs than me... although mine "appear to be bright"... they are like looking at solar flares... they just don't project to the road well... nor do they light up anything, in any sense of the word.

After looking at those fog lights and the ones on my Iroc, I have come to the conclusion that al though they look similar. They are not the same as the stock ones on my car. There are two noticable differences that I can see in that picture.

1. There is no means of adjusting the angle of the lights.
2. The method of mounting the lights is different.

I would mention the wiring harness but that is not visible in that picture.

I didn't look to see if it had angle adjustment... but do you ever really need to change the angle? shouldn't the light just be straight?

It would probably depend on how the front of your car is angled towards the ground. Your headlights require adjustment don't they?

true... well firebird fog lamps are not really 'lamps' at all... more like DRL-equivelant light output... nothing more...

that's why I don't really think it matters how you angle 'em...

I honestly cannot tell when I turn then on or off... unless my headlights are off already.

I guess the main reason there is headlight adjustment is because springs wear out, and can cause an improper headlight angle... (the left-to-right adjustment still has me confused though...) -- how can that EVER get off due to normal wear-and-tear?

The lenses and chrome reflectors are interchangable with the factory Trans Am fog lights... maybe the bulb, I can't remember. Nothing else is the same. The outer housing is totally different.

dang, when I looked at them, it looked like it even had the plastic clamps on the side, that are held by torx screws.

from personal experience (about 3 sets), the inside metal piece, the bulb, the lens, and the plastic pieces with the torx all are direct replacement for the 85-90 TA foglights.

from your personal experience, would you say the lense/housing can withstand a 100watt bulb?

well maybe your throwing the wrong terminolgy around here, but fog lamps and driving lights are 2 different things
fog lamps arent intented to project light way down the road... they are intented to help you see around fog, hence the name fog lamps
ever used your high beams in fog? not helpful, heh.. but anyways

and based on your headlight adjustment comment, id guess your one of the guys thats always blinding me with your lights pointed at the sky..
trust me a turn or two of those screws makes a huge difference 500 ft down the road

according to every chart/manual/specification sheet I have EVER seen, the lights are supposed to be exactly level with the ground (parallel)... some cars even have a little bubble-level built into the headlight housing.

that's exactly what I've done, and the ONLY time a car will not project light level with the ground is when the suspension is worn, because the physical body should not change over the years...

but, I have tested my fogs as "fog lamps," and they don't work that way either.... my fog lights (stock housings) reflect light in a LASERLIKE horizontal beam in front of the car, very low to the ground, and are very directional..(exactly how fogs are supposed to work... they are supposed to go under the fog, and light up stuff from the other side, so the light isn't reflecting off the fog in your face...

but with 55w fogs in the TA-style nose, fog or not, you CANNOT tell the difference (hardly) when you turn them on or off if the headlights are already on... and visibility in fog is better with the headlights on, not just the fogs... so *in our cars* 55w fogs are worthless, except for looks... and they do damned good job at it...

maybe if we changed out the reflectors and bulb-style we could get a better beam pattern... but as stock it's pathetic in that regard.
