Hi
Check the following,
1) Vacum line to the modulator.
2) Brake switch
3) Switch on turn signal stalk
4) Modulator
5) Mach linkage between the vacume motor and the carb.

I have an 1982 Firebird, I could easily drive it across country if I had too but them the enitire running chassie is almost new. It all depends on the conditions of the drive train, motor, brakes, tires, etc. Please remember Fla is somewhat hotter then NJ and that most failures on automobiles happens in the heat of the summer.

You will also have to be able to maintain 75/80 MPH on I95 is order to keep it safe. If you can't maintain that speed you will get the fools in the SUV's that will run right up on you bumper before they will change lanes to pass you.
