The only reason I asked was when I put my cs-144 Alt in, I used the stock belt and it stayed in the same position as the old SI that was in its place. I didnt have to do anything except for mount it, and yes I do have the same 5 rib pulley on the alt. I just wanted to know how did mine fit just like the old SI I had.

Cool, glad it works. I been pretty busy this week at work. This new belt has a shorter throw and works great for me. Not sure why it needed a shorter one, other than probably the case design is different. Does your engine run any differently with this alternator?

 

I dont notice any real performance difference in the engine, but my engine has always felt responsive anyway since I got the chip and put headers on a few years ago. The only difference I notice now is that when the car goes to idle, it maintains 13.4 volts while the car is fully warmed up and 13.8 - 13.9 while driving. No more dimming lights while my stereo is playing. Best upgrade ive done in a while. I'd try to post pics, but I dont know how.

Well if you have a digital camera, and can upload them to the computer... When you post, theres a user panel above the text box. Theres a button of a paperclip that says attachments, and below the text box theres a button under additional options that says manage attachments. Press one and upload the photo by browsing your picture folder.

 

I know this is an old post but I just wanted to try to elucidate the differences between the earlier years 82-84 and some of the later model brackets.

I was recently asked about an 82 and noticed that Chevy used a similar bracket in the carb trucks. Then I was walking through the garage and my friends 84 alternator and bracket was just sitting there on top of his car so I took some pictures.

The carb bracket seems to be horizontally flat (at a slight angle) at the manifold mounting tab to go straight down in the carb manifold. The TPI bracket seems almost to be vertically flat (also at an angle) to bolt to the TPI manifold.

sorry to bring the thread back up from the dead but I decided to the CS swap myself. I'm running short on $$ and am a bit impatient since my current daily driver is suffering... Does anyone know where I can a 12v 35 ohm resistor? Can I just go into Radio Shack and ask for one and wire it accordingly in-line on the proper wire? Thanks for the info...
