I would check to make sure that the grounds and contacts are clean and tight on the side that isn't working at front and rear units.

trickster when you say check the grounds and contacts what do you mean by that. all of the lights are working but not blinking on the left side and the right side blicks really slow. are there blinking relays or something to check out also.

No there are not any relays for the turn signals on the camaros although there are two on the berlinetta's for 1986. One of the items mentioned in the troubleshooting section of the schematics for the turn signals was to check the grounds if only one turn signal was working. What I meant was to check the ground wires for the turn signal for corrosion or weak connections.

as Trickster said, it sounds like you have ground problems.

i would check the sockets very closely, especially the front ones.

with a bad ground, voltage will bleed back through the other element of the bulb, the lights appear to work as they should, but they aren't. you may need to replace some of your sockets.

You're saying that if you just use the turn signals with the light switch in the off position they work fine and that if you turn the headlights or parking lights on they don't, correct? If that is the case then I would start checking that brown wire that goes to the marker lights and parking lights from the light switch. I would also check to make sure that I had the right bulbs in the sockets.

whaty type bulbs go in the sockets is it 1157 or 2057. i knowthat the small ones are 194. you are correct about the lights. they work fine until i turn the switch on. it can be in either parking lights or headlights when they dont work but all the lights stay on but dont blink. i did notice that the 194 bulbs go out when i hit the switch when the headlights are on if that means anything

The marker lights are #194 and the turn signal & parking lights are #1157.

Trickster, are you sure about 1157 part #, i was at the parts store today and bought 2057's cause that is what was called for in the Sylvannia catalog. Im having the same problem with the blinkers not working when the parking or headlights are on. They work fine otherwise. I just found it tonight while adjusting the headlights, so ill start diagnosing it tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

Yes I am sure about the #1157 light bulbs for his car. On your car which is a 90 pontiac formula, you are correct about the #2057 light bulbs. However you must remember his car is an earlier model and is a camaro made by chevrolet. Different manufacturers use different bulbs.

No problem!! BTW, check the "TAIL" fuse since that is the one that controls the turn signals when the headlights are turned on. BTW, PM me with the unit that you are in there at shaw. I retired from there in 93 .
