gauge problem

My gauges have always worked fine until recently. My MPH needle seems a little sluggish. when i speed up it will go up to about 20 than stop, then it will jump up to about 23-24. It will do it again around 40. It is more frequent when I slow down. If I hit my dash it will jump sooner. should i get it recalibrated? I've never seen a problem like this so I dont know what to do.

Sounds like your cable is hanging up. Try lubing the speedo cable and see if the problem goes away.

I took the gauges out and it has 2 electric plugs. 1 behind the MPH and 1 behind the RPM. Could it be a bad contact?

My bad, I did not see before that you had a '91 9electric speedo, not gear driven). It is possible that you have some dirty/bad contacts. Try cleaning them and reassmble with some dielectric grease.

one of the bolts that hold it in was loose so it probubly was making a bad contact. Should work now. Thanks.
