A/C Stays on all the time... Quick Fix?
Greetings. My A/C recently started staying on all the time. It is apparently on when I have the heater on, or vents, or much any other function, including off. It really kills gas milage, because I do not use it too often. It's probably the A/C/Heater switch, which I do plan on replacing, but my question is..
Is there a fuse I can disconnect on my '92 RS that will disable the AC, while allowing the heat to function? If so, where is it? Thanks.

Not sure how the switching is connected as I will dig into mine over the weekend. If you want the compressor to not run, disconnect the connector on the compressor. Clutch can't engage and compressor can't run. Compressor is also fused or they used to be for protection when the freon level is low, this also can be removed to prevent clutch operation.

I appreciate it, coma. I was under the impression that replacement of the entire AC/heater switch unit in the pod was the permenant fix, but after doing a thourough searching, I found that it is quite possibly the
pressure switch. Can anyone verify this for me? Would save me the trouble of scratching my head over this. The weather is getting towards the point where I do not need A/C, so I am interested to see what you find, Coma. A simple fix such as disconnecting the compressor would allow me to still operate with heat would be an angel's blessing! Well.. sort of, it would certainly give me better gas milage. Just worried about potential refridgerant leaking as a result.. Any thoughts?

Mine has been doing that also, just unplug the pressure switch as they said.It is by the air dryer where the freon check/fill valve is.I unplug mine every fall and plug it back in at the start of summer.Doesn't have to be any more complicated than that.
