Alarm w/ Window roll up module????
Ok, so I've been stuck on this install for the past week. Every day when I get home I spend a couple of hours trying to get some where, but I can't get anywhere.
Crime Stopper alarm
no name window roll up module (like DEI, only with out the violet (second ground) wire
"88 Firebird
I can't figure out how to make the module work. I hooked it up the way that the directions say to, but when I use the (-) armed output of the alarm (500ma) for the starter kill relay and the module ("Y" it off), the relays on the window module won't click. When I run it directly to the module they will. So I tried using the (-) armed output of the alarm directly to the module, then the (-) auxilary output of the module to the starter kill relay. So that way everything will work, right????
Well then, how are the windows suposed to go up? The module only sends power to the motor. It doesn't ground the other side, so I'm left with an open circut. So all I have to do is ground the other side, right? Well if I do that then I won't be able to roll down the windows ever. (it will create a short) So if I were to use the (-) output from the module then it will work, right? Well when I hooked it up to test it, every thing works fine. But when I hook it up permanently, the module doesn't work.
Any thoughts??????

That sounds logical.... But that's not what's going on. I'm having a very bad time with this install. My brain was tired when I wrote this.
What's going on, in short, is that the module has wires to connect to the "up" wire. The only problem is that it sends power to the motor, but doesn't ground the opposite end. The Alldata shows the circut as being open when not in use.
Here's the main problem. When I hook up the module the way that it says to, the windows don't roll up when armed. But if I arm the alarm, and hold the switch in the up position, then the windows roll up. So what I'm wondering is if there is any way to send a ground to the other side, but only when armed?

it can be done with a relay which is an electric switch. When there is 12volts applied to the relay, it will energize, causing the switch inside of the relay to connect ground to where you need it.

Yeah, so I guess I've got it figured out. I'm gonna use a relay on each of the ground sides. I was just trying to see if anyone has installed the roll up module before. I just didn't want to have all of these relays and extra wires. If there is a problem later on, I'm gonna hate tracing it.

its been a long time since i have posted here, but i have a 87 t/a and i have the alarm im using is tha autopage 850 lcd 2-way pager and remote starter.i used the autopage window module,it rolls up on arm,it will vent the windows by remote, and makes my window switches express up and down at all times as well as momentary movement.the wiring for my setup sounds the same as yours and it should have worked fine with the ground when armed wire/starter kill from the alarm.i did use a diode when using this just as a precaution since im using a starterkill aswell. i did this to my car a year and a half ago but i may be able to help.pm me

I'm having the same problem. I have the Skytek window module it is on a 1987 Pontiac Firebird that has a Skytek Galaxy 50000RS-2W Alarm installed as well. I can hear the module trigger but it won't make the windows go up or down.

Re: Alarm w/ Window roll up module????
What signal does the alarm module provide to roll the windows - I imagine a switched postive output? How do you have it connected to the existing wiring?
The factory wiring grounds both sides of the window motor through the window switches, when at rest. This grounding would need to be broken by a relay before you can inject your 'roll-up' signal to the motor wire - have you done this?

Re: Alarm w/ Window roll up module????
The factory wiring switches a positive signal to the appropriate motor wire for the direction required. Your installer will have to use some relay switching to both invert the logic sense and bypass the factory grounding.
