fuel guage moves alot

fuel guage moves alot

the guage is off on my 92....for example it reads 1/4 tank and i take a sharp curve and it will go to empty and sometimes the car will die and i have to stop and fillup...is there anything else besides the sending unit this could be?someone mentioned the ground does anyone know where the unit is grounded so i can check that out...thanks

No, its the tank. You need a 4th gen tank with baffles. The gas just swishes to one side, therefore a false reading (not the senders fault) and the reason your car sometimes stutters and dies.

you can fit a 4th gen tank up under a thirdgen?.. Might be something to look into then if it will fix the annoyance of the gas guage being messed

the 98-02 4th gen LS1's are plastic, The LT1s are metal

thanks for that info...im looking for one as we speak because my guage is stuck at 3/4 tank now and wont move at all...so if i have to change the sending unit i'll change tank,unit and fuel pump....what pump would i need to feed a mild performing 350 tbi with 350 truck tbi
