this is a common problem isnt it? whn i stop short it goes down...and when i speed up it goes up....any ideas on how to fix? i haevnt really had a problems yet...its just annoying thats all

 

Mine does the same thing, but then again, mine reads about a 1/4 tank more than I have (not fun finding that out for the first time). Plan on replacing the sending unit in the near future with all the rest of the planned work. Hopefully that helps, other than that, I don't know.

That is just the fuel slopshing around in the tank.... Most cars do that... Some new cars have measures built into the tank to prevent the false reading given by the fuel moving around... I'm not sure how that works...
It's normal and you should just get used to it.

 

newer tank us somthign so it doest move dramaticly cause gas doesnt move dramaticly unless drivng

 

yeah its not a big deal....i figured it was the gas moving. but just wanted to make sure. i just fill it up when it gets down to 1/4 of a tank. just wasnt sure if it was an easy fix

 

You'll also notice it shows more fuel when driving up an incline than when down on a decline.

 

Doesn't it have to do with that new cars have baffels to keep it from sloshing, and our cars dont?
But then, that wouldn't explain the hills, now, would it?

 

I don't know about the technical reasons - it's just another idiosyncrasy that ya gotta love!
