high beam switch confusion

i understand the linkage problem a lot of 3rd gens have in relation to the highbeam switch. if i dont want to tear apart my steering column, is it possible to rewire the highbeam switch under the dash to a switch ON the dash. Just want to relocate the switch. Hard to do?

Not an answer, but a clarification of the problem...
Is this where the on/off rod piece which you pull towards you gets soft, and kinda spongy, and is therefore hard to turn the HIs on and off?
If so, I've got that oo, very annoying.

The linkage isn't the problem. The switch either breaks or hex screws holding it loosen and make it out of adjustment. The Switch is under the entire dash (close to the brake pedal) and bolted to the column

You'll actually spend more time and effort rigging something than just replacing the switch and making it work like it should.

So if the switch isnt bad, then all I should have to do is re adjust the nuts holding the switch in place?

Green is the turn signal flasher. Yellow is the (in)convenience center that holds the door 'chime' and hazzard relay.

The switch should have slotted mounting tabs that allow for a minor amount of fine tuning to keep the slack out of the rod.

In my 87 and old 84 sc, it was the switch itself. My current 91 rs, it's the switch but, I'm to lazy to fix it and both high lamps have small holes in them as well. Even if the switch worked, the lamps don't
I rarely use high lamps anywas so it's not a high priority to fix.
