Engine Rotates but will not start

OK guys, Ive been working on my trouble code problems and I've fixed them all, at least when I checked earlier the only one that showed up was 12) well guess what, I go to start my car to finally drive ti to school again, i turn the key and it rotates, a lot. It wont start. I figure its prolly the alternator, cuz after rotating it for a while, the lights inside a flickering everwhere, heck even the speedometers kickin around 5mph, and I stop, go out to the hood and hear this whirring sound. Does anyone know if theres anything else I should check other than the battery connections, or should I just go ahead and get this new alternator. And if I do get an alternator, is it worth the xtra $ for these 140 amps ones? thx

If it is cranking ("a lot") but not starting, you are lacking either the correct fuel mixture or spark at the correct time.

Too much fuel is as bad as no fuel. Does teh fuel pump run a prime cycle in ignition power-up? During cranking? Or are the cylinders flooded?

Is there any spark? If you connect a spare plug and place it on a good engine ground, does spark occur while cranking? I

Well, I'm really not sure, one of the spark plug boots is loose and I do plan to replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires, I'll repost the results, but I dont think I'll be able to get the wires for a while. I called an automotive dealership and he said it could be the fuel pump, a spark problem, or a starter. How would I check these parts (the fuel pump and the starter). And yes Vader it is craking a lot, and it sounds extremely rough and terrible. There is only 1/3 fuel in the tank right now, and I alwaysa use premium. Also

How do I check these?

I have these pics as well, can someone tell me what this part is, and what it does?

And I'd like to upload an audio clip cuz it really does sound terrible when the engine rotates, I know some people on this site have uploaded audio for their exhaust and stuff, can someone tell me how to do this? Thanks.

That's your A/C compressor.... not your starting problem unless it is so siezed up that it is keeping the motor from turning over fast enough to fire. Check for spark and fuel.

Thanks, I didnt think it was the cause of my starting problem, I just didnt know what it was, and I couldnt get some of the bolts to go back in there, but it was still pretty tight, so I think its ok. Could it possibly be the starter, I mean how do those things die, this car has been sitting without being started for about 2 months, and now when I go to start it, it rotates and makes this terrible noise, like a really loud pinging, and it makes me feel like I'm really hurting the engine. I did get trouble code 12 for this, and I'm not sure if its the engine telling me I really do have a code 12, or its just telling me the engines fine cuz 12 just keeps repaeating, no codes after that (I had 36 b4 but replaced the burn off and power relays and it went away). Oh and this could by any chance be the power relay?

If the car is canking over when you turn the key then it is not the starter-if the starter was bad then you would either hear a clicking noise or nothing at all.
