New VSS and VSS Buffer and speedometer still doesn't work

Ok, I put a new speed sensor and speed sensor buffer box in and my speedometer still doesn't work. Whats next? I did an engine swap to a non computerized carb and now the speedometer never moves the odometer doesn't work either. Was there something I needed to do to the ecm or cruise wires when I took out the ecm? (87 Trans Am)
Thanks

anybody??
Today I dropped another 60.00 for a gauge cluster and the speedometer STILL won't move!!! This is driving me crazy!!!! Are there any tests I can do? Are there any ground wires I need to look for? Any relays in the engine compartment that I may have disconnected? The car is equipped with cruise if that helps.

What I did was to check the black with white stripe wire that is plugged into the VSS buffer box to see if it was grounded. Finding that it was not I spliced in a ground wire to it and now I have a working speedometer.

ok are you talking about the white and black wires that come strait out of the vss and if you are what exactly did you do just cut the wire down near the vss and put it on the underbody or what ':/

You would have a mechancal speedo. Check the following link for common problems/fixes:

If it's an 89 Camaro with an OE cluster, yes, I'm sure.
