Changed Hood and Now my Engine Bay Light Won't Work

I got rid of my stock hood and replaced it with a new fiberglass hood. But after the swap I noticed my underhood light stopped working. So I took out the bulb and tested the connection point to see if it was getting power. I used my light tester and it lit up as soon as I made contact. At that point I figured the bulb was bad (eventhough the filament was still in tact). I bought another pair of bulbs from the auto parts store and still no success, neither of them worked.

WTF is going on?

The light tester is saying the connection point is getting power, and I've tried three different bulbs all of which appear to be in perfect working condition.

I'm thoroughly confused. I'd appreciate any help.

Fiberglass doesn't conduct electricity so good.

You will need to run a ground wire

Okay. Thanks.

I'm not too knowledgable about electricity, so can someone explain to me why I need to run a ground wire if the connection point is already getting juice?

I don't understand.

You've only got half a circuit there. The bulb used to be grounded through the metal hood. Now that you've put a fiberglass hood on, there's no ground path anymore.
