Weird Plug

Anyone have any idea what this is?

It's Dangling down near the Starter

I really doubt that it is related, but my car has been runnin pretty crappy lately and duno if this could be apart of it? It's not the knock sensor i dont think, that appears to be plugged in

:Edit: It's an 87 IROC-Z 350, I believe the engine is out of an 88 because its got the Serp Belt not V Belt Setup *am i correct in assuming 87's dont have that?* I'll update my profile to say IROC in a minute lol
Thanks!
Brent

The only two plugs like that on that side of the motor are the knock sensor (forward the starter in the block) and the fan switch (same side in the head between 6 & 8 exhaust ports).

Got some Real pics finally:

While doing my tune up, I found that 6 of the 8 spark plugs were finger tight, absolutely no effort needed to take them out by hand The wires are total junk, temp sensor wasnt plugged in at all, which confuses me because its up on the drivers side but this plug here that i posted is on the passenger side

Between the 6-8 cylinder, there is a block plug, one of those 3/8th extension bolt thingys ya just use an extension to take it off, whats up with that?

Also, there was no Thermostat in there at all, so we put a 180 degree in, and im goanna be checkin the timing when it gets runnin. But while doin that, we found the housing bolt hole is stripped out :'(

I have more pics if anyone needs to know what im talking about

Anyone know what this is while im at it?

They're right under all the smog stuff but I dont see how it would plug into the smog stuff

Thanks!

The first one is definately the fan switch plug. Do you have dual fans? This motor might not have come with the switch or the previous owner somehow broke the switch and replaced it with a plug. That last one looks like it goes to the AC. Either to the back of the compressor or on the high side switch. HTH

You probably already know how to make the fan come on, but just in case you don't. To test it ground the connector and it should make the fan come on. If you've been running around with the AC on, then one of the fans is supposed to run constantly. HTH

I dont use the AC at all, no charge

But I have had some tester thingy in my ALDL Port and that made the fans run, so I know for a fact they do work, just nothin was triggering them lol, so I'm goanna manually do it and have confirmation that its actually on, not just hoping the switch worked lol. Maybe I'm just bein a lil paranoid about it lol

Overheating isn't fun and it will probably be REAL bad for your engine. Never hurts to be safe.
