Replacing speedometer difficult? 86 Z28

I only have the 85 mph speedo and am thinking about replacing with 145 mph . Is it difficult? any tips and or instructions or pics would be great? Is it a major project? Are each of my gauges seperate or all one unit? Here's some pics.

Its all one unit, but quite an easy project. The only small difficulty is undoing the speedo cable from the back side. Theres a tab that u push in to release it. Just a tight area if u have big hands. Going back together it just snaps in.

Thank you I'll take a look under the dash at it.

Each of the gauges are separate. You can remove just the speedometer and replace it alone.

So it's a seperate all one unit? I'm confused due to the earlier post. Thanks again!

The gauges are all mounted in a white plastic carrier, and will all come out of the dash together. Once that's out though, you can remove just the speedometer head and replace it alone, keeping the rest of your original gauges.

Not really. Do yourself a favor though. There are two bolts holding the steering column up. You'll want to back them out part way to lower the column so that you have a lot more room to get the I.P. out. You don't have to take them out all the way.

Ok , I know exactly where those bolts are! Are the rest of the gauges connected by wires or cables? and do I have slack to pull them still connected or unplug them. This is funny cause we are posting on 2 different subjects at the same time. LOL I am also about to thow up a post with pics about todays project, My sons head liner I just thave to install it now. Check it out. I have what may be a brite idea for the future headliners on this site. I wrapped the fabric afound to the back of the board and of course glued it. But I took it another step and electrical taped the edges as well for strength. The tape is also glued to the board. Seems very sturdy. Duct tape would have probably been better ( I know duct tape ! Of course!) It dont look pretty but ya never see it. If it holds and makes it strong , Who cares! I thought about laminating both sides and wrapping the edges of the whole board in duct tape. What do ya think? It would be glued on and the tape really seems to stick to the glue. Then the frabric would have a nice surface to stick to as well. The board would last forever. Thanx again!

There are 2 10mm nuts holding the cluster in. Remove them and it will pull straight out. There are no wires or anything to disconnect.

except for the speedometer cable. I just replaced my 85 mph cluster with a 145 mph cluster in my 86 IROC due to my VSS (yellow thing on back) being bad and I've already pegged the speedometer once so I just replaced whole unit so I have more speedometer. The individual speedo is easy to replace by it self though but is held by two screws from the back of the cluster.

Yes, except for the speedometer cable. It's harder to reconnect than it is to disconnect, though.
