Wipers not working
On my 86 Z28 the wipers only work when you hit the wash part of the lever and they stop on the windshield exactly where you let off the lever. I had this problem after a column change out. Since the turn signals and washer part works but the on/off/ intermittent dial switch part of the lever does not work, I just pulled the lever out and replaced it with a junk yard part. Still it didn't work. Any one know whats wrong? Thanx

Did your car originally have interval wipers? Do the wipers still work in the slow or fast position?

Not sure if it had them original, but I think so. The day I bought the car I'm sure I tested them and they worked, but the column was loose and the Dude I bought the car from had an ebay $250 column I wanted installed before I bought the car. I helped him do it. We noticed that day it didn't work after changing the column. It came from a Firebird because it was onthe steering wheeel but I'm not sure what year. Mine is an 86 Z28. Only had it a few weeks and I haven't even been driving it at all yet. Gotta do the insurance, plates and title yet. Were doing a new roof in a few weeks and just bought a 91 RS for one of my sons as well so I am broke! Thanks again , You have been very helpfull!

It sounds like that car didn't have interval wipers originally. There'll be no electronics under the wiper motor cover to control the delay and washer pump.

The wipers only come on when I hit wash switch and then back off when I let go.

ive got an 86 z28 too and it has the pulse type standard. my problem is slightly different though - only works on "hi" mode not on low or intermittent. when you turn it off hi, the wipers stop dead where ever they may be and then eventually park at a random point in time. the motor makes a click sound when turning it on to intermitent or low but no wiper movement. also, when pushing the washer, the pump works but wipers dont. sounds similar to your problem. if i work it out i'll let ya know but if someone has the answer please share!!

I too am having the same problem with my wipers. My 86 Iroc had non interval wipers.I swapped in a column from an 87 camaro that had interval wipers.I tried using the original wiper lever and the wipers will work with the washer pump setting.I can get them to work by pushing back on the mist part of the lever but I have to hold the lever. If I let go the wipers stop working. If I grab a wiper lever with delay will this fix it?

Im having a smimmilar problem my car 86 iroc-z came with a messed up coulum and no wiper motor in it so i go a new coulum the one mine came with had the delay function so i figured i would get another one with the same settins so i got a new coulum with no looseness at all very nice and i went to go get a wiper motor and i noticed that i have the plug for non delay under the hood but both columns i have seen in the car sofar had the delay but neither of them show a signal possitive or negative to the plug under the hood so i guess i need to get a column without delay? and they should work?
