Electrical Problems
I have just purchased a 1987 Trans Am with carbureted 305. While attempting to start the car I found the Braided Ground Strap from engine to body was heating up. Then I found that with the computer power connected, the grounds were hot. With the computers positive wire unplugged the grounds are fine.I think that it has to be a short in the computer or going to computer. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or know what next I should check. My only guess is ignition switch. Thanks for the help if available.

Your problem is consistent with an open bat. to chassis
ground cable. Make sure connections at both ends are
clean (where you can’t see, where they make contact) and tight.
“If people drove any slower
they’d be going backwards.”
.

The problem has been solved the ground cable wore and broken after making sure the car was grounded well and replaceing the broken ground the problem was fixed. Then after i found that the distibtor was in 180 out of time it started up in try. Thanks for the post NINA
