Drivers side fan only is turning on

i have an 89 iroc 305 tpi and only the drivers side fan is turning on. today on the highway the car was running real close to 245 or so and i dont like that.
basicly my question is what do i look for to determine why the passenger side fan isnt turning on(besides a dead motor(but how should i test for that)).

First, try testing the fan motor. Simple way to test the fan motor is to disconnect the leads and jumper straight to battery. If it runs, next test to ensure that you have battery to the relay. If so, replace the relay with a working relay to help determine if the relay might be bad. Also, if your car has A/C, try turning that on to see if the fan runs.

The right side fan only comes on, when the A/C is on. Wadebryant is right.
You can however, wire the fan to a toggle switch, which is pretty easy.

That fan also runs through a fan switch in the passenger side head. It comes on at 200 and something degrees with the air on or not.

Right, or about 220+. Also check to make sure that the connector to the fan switch is not broken or heat baked.
