Save Your Power Mirror/Lock Wires!

Maybe this is old news to people, but I wanted to share it in case it helps someone trace or prevent a problem with their power mirrors.

I took apart my PS door panel to replace the handle, outer window felt, and to try and chase down some squeaks and rattles.

I happened to notice that there were two locations where some very thin, delicate wires were resting right on a thin, sharp edge of steel. I imagine that after thousands of miles of vibrating around, the possibility exists for the insulation to be worn through, causing a short and rendering the component inoperable. So, to prevent this, I encased the wires in either wire loom or vacuum line to protect them.

Here are pics to show the two locations. The first is for the power mirror wiring, towards the jamb side of the door, and the second is for the power locks, towards the latch side of the door.

Besides preventing a problem, I thought that if anyone found a short in either of these components, these would be areas worth checking out because of the possibility that the placement of the wires caused a short.
