No headlights, possible fuse? Please help!

Hello, sorry to be so troublesome with this being my first post and all and already asking for help, but if anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated! Anyways down to the problem.

I had a flat tire on my 1992 Camaro Z28 with a 305 in it. I plugged in a cigerette lighter powered air compressor and aired up my tire. After I was done, I turned on my headlights to see my temp. gauge and I realized that I didn't have run lights or headlights, no radio, no dome light, or no horn, and after that I plugged the compressor back in to see if it worked and it also did not work.

I have tried to find the fuse under the dash and couldn't find anything right away and I wasn't sure that if there are fuses or relays under the hood of the car and where to look next. Please help if you can and I thank you in advance!

Welcome to the boards, you most likely blew a fuse. The fusebox is located under the drivers side dash, you may have to remove the panel to access it Good luck and hope you get it together!

Sounds to me like your battery is dead

Thanks for the welcoming! Anyways, I still haven't figured it out yet, but someone told me to go down by the starter and check the fusible links down there, but the only problem is that I have never even done that and would not even have the slightest clue as to how to figure out which if any are blown.

I have looked at the fuses under the dash on the driver side and pulled all but four and nothing is wrong with them. I am completely lost on this one. Is there some kind of a circuit breaker that I may have tripped with the power from the cigerette lighter being used? Please help me if you can...Thanks for all the input you guys!

Fixed mine this morning. Repaired a fusible link at the starter and that didn't solve the problem so I dug a little deeper and found that I had power up to the C100 connector on the drivers side of the firewall. Didn't find any corrosion but I did find a loose wire. I fixed it, put things back together and all is well. Hopefully you've got a similar problem, real easy fix.

Cool, I hope that is as easy for me as it was for you. I just had one question, where exactly is the C100 connector at and which wire was it that was loose? And again, thanks for all your help!

Not the case with my car. It cranked and started. Everything but the headlights, tail lights, dome light, power mirrors, power locks, and the hatch release button worked. The wire was the larger of the 2 red wires I believe it was the lower left while looking at the back of the C100 connector. The connector itself is located on the driver's side firewall. You'll need to remove a few things before you can see it. Just a few screws holding some brackets in.

Yes, the car starts. I am having the same symptons as no headlights, dome light, hatch releash button, cigerette lighter, dash lights. I checked all fuses and none of them looked burnt up. Alright, I might have to try that C100 connector. Only problem is, I really don't know where that bracket is other than as you said the driver side firewall. Is it something I will be able to see once I look under the hood as to which bracket will be in the way? As always, thanks for your help!

It'll be something you'll be able to see. It is right out in the open on the drivers side firewall. Pop the hood, look at the driver's side on the firewall and you'll see the cluster wires going into the passenger compartment. Remove the bracket(s) and the C100 connector will be staring back at you.

The circuit that isn't working is called the "courtesy" circuit. Its not protected by a fusible link, so the fuse that you've blown is located under the driver side under the dash.

It's labeled "courtesy". Remember that it doesn't hdave to "look" blown to be blown.

Its just plainly obvious that you've blown a fuse. Those tire inflators pull more that 15 amps sometimes.

Power comes from the battery straight to the starter, then into the block descrived earlier, then to the fusebox through the fuse into the circuit. The likelihood that a wire blew before a fuse went is slim. Juxt replace the fuse, it can only help.

Okay, thanks for your help! I had told my step dad that I thought I had been told by a friend that if a fuse does not look blown, that it could still be messed up and cause your circuit not to work, but he insisted that it would look burnt up.

Anyways, I looked at my manual and under the dash on the driver side and I couldn't find a fuse labeled Cortesy. Would it fall into Accesory? Thanks again guys for all your help and I will keep you posted after buying some fuses tonight.

Accessory, or courtesy (on my bird). Fuses cost about a buck for a multipack. Just replaceitfor the piece of mind.

I won't comment about the non-looking-blown-fuse thats really blown. Lets just say I could mail you one that way.
