Electrical Problem?

So yesterday, I just left the house, and down the road my car just died. I'm pretty sure it's electrical for some reason.

I can now no longer start it. It doesn't even start to crank. Can't be the starter because when I put the ignition into acc, nothing happens, fan doesn't go on, nothing works in the interior except lights. I'm pretty sure I have enough power. Lights are bright, stereo works (on it's own wiring)

I thought it could be the ignition switch, but some stuff that works without ignition don't work either such as power seats, power locks, etc.

I just fought the same sort of battle.Couldn't figure out why my car just wouldn't run at all intermittently.Suddenly one time when it went dead and I was trying to restart it I noticed smoke coming from under the hood.I checked and saw the small ground wire coming from the battery to the fender was smoking like crazy.Well this wire is so small as to be close to useless, the body electrical demands far exceed that wires capacity so I figured it had to be main ground paths, which is basically the main ground wire going to the engine block, and the ground straps going from the engine block to the firewall.Cleaned and redid all of those and the engine fired right up and has run fine ever since. If you look at all of those connections you will likely be horrified when you see how rusted and corroded those connections are,and they are really, really important. It's a good place to start anyway.

Good start, I'll try it then. I did notice the ground being so small, it was just a couple strands of wire out of the whole thing.

Tried fixing that and it didn't seem to make a difference. Only get headlights so far. :/

Might have another look at it later, but the ground is bigger than what it was now and still no luck. The ground I have is from the battery to the body.

Problem solved ... Turned out it was the ignition switch. Been giving me trouble since I got it, was so hard to unlock it. So when I was driving it, I guess it just lost connection.

Crazy ...
