Double check your wires and make sure they're tight. The fast clicking is probably the solenoid trying to latch in, but there's not enough current to latch it and turn the starter.

I'll double check them. I was also told it might be because I was trying to start it straight from a booster pack and if it doesnt have enough juice it wont start and it would mak the clicking sound because of not enough current.

That will do it to - kind of like a dead or weak battery will do that too.

You gonna try driving that in the Worcester winters and ice storms?

Heck no! It would do nothing but donuts all day. It's gonna be garaged and parked next to my dads 4th gen T/A. The winter car is a 96 caprice 9c1, lt-1 powered. It actually does really well in the winter. Nothing under 350 cubes in this driveway.

Well i tightened both wires and let the booster pack recharge, and I went to start it and the same thing, fast clicking. The volt meter in the car was reading 13 volts. Can anyone help me?

Do you have a battery in the car at all? or are you connecting the booster pack straight to the cables. The pack may not have enough amps to start the car, but enough to "boost" a weak battery. I think you need a minimum of 500A or more to start the car.

Just the straight booster pack. Yeah its only 450 amps. Off to get a battery I guess.

How old is the battery in the caprice? If you're getting ready to garage the firebird and you've got the original battery in the caprice, I'd buy a new batt for the caprice and put the old one in the bird for the winter. Just my

The caprice battery is about 3 months old. I can get a new battery out of a junked car at my friends junk yard for $25 so I'll just go that route.
