Fog switch question

Hello,
In France, to have the license plates of an US car, we need to modify it...
So I have to install a rear fog light. I just want to know if I can use a 82-89 fog light switch on a 90-92 fog light switch bezel ? I don't need to have an expensive and rare 90-92 switch, cause after obtaining the plates I want to remove to rear fog light.
So will a 82-89 fog light switch fit on a 90-92 fog light switch bezel.
Thanks

Perhaps some pics/info will help:

By the way, I lived in Annecy for a while many years ago. Beautiful city and beautiful country, especially when cruising down the road in a Camaro. I myself was unfortunate: Bought a VW Beetle in Luxombourg.
