Code 43 problem

I have an annoying problem. Everytime i start the engine i wait 5 seconds and then- Presto- the service engine light. The circut to the knock sensor is fine, the knock sensor is new. So what the **** is wrong! I think but havent checked, because i dont want to fork out 80 bucks for it- that the distibuter module is bad and isn't advancing the timeing enough for the check. PLEASE HELP!BEFORE I LIGHT THIS THING ON FIRE!

no, don't burn it, tell me where your at & i'll come take it off your hands for free to save you the cost of a match & fuel

this may help, open them in windows picture & fax viewer so you can zoom in to read them, you may need to save them to your computer to do it.

Thanks for the help but the only problem is i have a direct feed knock sensor-speed density tpi, so i dont have an esc-i did but retrofited, i'm pretty sure that has somthing to do with it. As far as i can tell my wiring is good but i read a continous 4.88 volts at the ecm and at the knock sensor. See why i'm so confused.

at 4.88 volts it will kick the code, it should pull down to around 2.5 volts key on engine off.
the sensor may not have a good ground, did you put any sealer on the knock sensor such as teflon tape?

here are the diagrams for a 92 TPI SD system.

Thanks for the diagrams, i dont have a service manual for the 90-92 engine so those diagrams really help. When i get home i'll check the resistance in the knock sensor to see if its good. Which it better because i dont want to have coolant sprayed in my face when i change it

I checked my knock sensor for resistance and got nothing, then i checked the old one and got nothing, i took the positive lead and stuck it on the connection and stuck the negative on the treads. Am i doing that right and the new knock sensor is bad or what, either way i ordered a new knock sensor.

sounds like the sensor is bad.
they are very fragile, dropping them on a hard surface can damage them.
they can also be damaged when you put them in.
i really hate using the nut on the side the connector goes on, a little too much torque on the wrench & the sensor gets trashed.
