how bad did i mess up?

I was working on my car (tpi to carb swap) when i decided to turn the ignition on to check for leaks and i forgot that the ignition power wire was disconnected and sitting on the intake so i turn the key over the pump ran shot fuel no leaks everything electricle worked then i heard some popping and crackling and smoke coming under the hood turned the key off and looked at everything and the only thing that seems to have been burned was the end of the power wire was dark from hitting the manifold. Now nothing works but headlights and interior lights pump wont prime all my gauges are not functioning turn signals wont come on wiper motors wont run nothing.

have you checked your fuses? you pretty much grounded out your car, you probably know that already but i would check your fuses.

Check all your cables, this happened on my '73 Camaro when I was jacking it up. Some metal piece touched a wire and burned the wire just like yours, White-ish smoke went everywhere, car wouldnt start, same deal. We wrapped it with electrical tape and connected everything again. You most likely shorted a power/ignition wire, which is why your headlights still work.
