is your tach the ONLY thing not working on the gauge cluster? mayb its a wiring problem. mayb check your ignition because the distributor sends the info to your gage.

Re: Gauges dont work
Gauge showing all the way "up" often means a discontinuity or short in the circuit (which one, depends on the gauge). Meaning that maybe the sensor is not hooked up or it has a corroded connector or the wire is cut/burnt/grounded somewhere between the sensor and the dash.
Oil and gas gauges show full "up" when the sender wire is disconnected. They show full "down" when the sender wire is grounded.
The temp gauge is reversed: it shows full "up" when grounded and full "down" when disconnected. Troubleshoot by disconnecting and grounding the sender wire, that'll tell you if the gauge or sender is bad.
Tachometer not working could mean that the white wire on the coil had a bad connection or the tachometer module inside the gauge cluster is shot. Only one way to find out: measure the AC voltage on the white wire on the connector behind the tachometer. If you see cca 12V AC (or 6V DC) with the engine running, the tachometer is very likely bad.
Hope this helps.

Re: Gauges dont work
now-a-days, my tach works every-so-often. itll work half the 10 mile ride to work varying in speeds from 40-85ish, but never really going over 4000 rpm. it just quits working at random, and thanks for the posts
