Temp gauge doesn't reset.

It doesn't zero out when the ignition is hot. It goes up, but doesn't reset back down when the engine is cold. Wiring is fine back into the firewall. Could it be a problem with the gauge connections?

Are you talking about when the engine is shut off at normal operating temps. and you get back in it after it's cooled down it's still sitting up the scale? That would be considered normal if it drops back down once the engine has cooled and the ignition is cut back on. If it fails to drop down, there's a problem.

It doesn't reset back down. It came up, but doesn't want to come back down, its sitting somewhere below 200*F right now. Not sure what the problem could be.

is it possibly a bad temperature sending unit?

I put a new one in and it didn't help. I'm just confused as hell at this point why it would just stop working one day. Wiring seems fine back to the firewall. I was hoping the gauge not reseting mean't a certain thing was wrong.

I have the digital dash in my firebird, a swap from an '88 GTA, and I have a similar problem. The temp gauge was working fine for a couple of days, now it doesn't indicate a reading on the gauge at all. Being digital, it doesn't have a "needle", so I'm not sure what the problem is. The sending unit's been replaced, so I'm stuck.

A buddy told me if the gauge doesn't reset and is just sitting in place, its probably the gauge.

Is the gauge removable? Is it an easy replacement?
