Will a Delay Wiper Motor work with a non delay column?

My Formula currently has the delay wiper option, and I have a non tilt column out of my old 84 Firebird I want to put in, the 84 column has no delay wiper option, it just has high, low and off.

I really don't need the delay feature, because the only time I really need the wipers is to clean the windshield or if I get caught in a sudden rain.

I don't think that 88-92 cars had a no delay option, and I really can't use a 82-87 style motor as they have the pump mounted in the motor, with the washer bottle I have I need the external washer pump assembly like the 88-92 cars.

Anyway, will the wipers work if I use the 84's non delay column with the 90 delay wiper motor? Will the wiring even plug into the column?

Thanks

I tried that once before...didn't work...best would would probably to take the wiper arms off and swap 'em.

Don't know for sure but was not the pump part of the wiper motor in 84???? If so then the 84 column wiring and switch probably won't work in your car. Also in 82 at least the wiring was different at the motor for a delay unit versus a non delay unit, as a different motor was used.

Have you considered swaping the switch and wiring from you current column to the 84 column???? This might be the best solution, thought I suspect it will take a little work to swap the switches and wiring.
