Voltate jumping to max then back over and over.
Like the title says.
Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.
My voltage will jump and max out (18) then back to 13ish - where it normally is. It jumps quickly over and over, making my headlights flash.
What does it sound like to you guys?
Voltage regulator?
Just a bad ground?

Just trying again. The problem is still occuring, but now I'm starting to notice that I can actually feel it a little bit in the driving when it does start jumping back and forth.
So, anyone?
And are our voltage regulators built into the alternator?

yes they are.
They are easy enough to replace. Replace the bearings while you are there.

Thanks for the replies.
We actually pulled out the reciept on the alternator and it has a lifetime warranty so I just got back from returning my voltage regulator.
I was kinda excited about taking it apart, but oh well, I saved $17

Yeah. Thats what mine were doing. My headunit would even turn itself off sometimes because the voltage got so high.
We replaced the alternator with the lifetime warranty on it and I haven't had any problems since.
Since our voltage regulators are built in, you're taking out two possibilities at once.
