what happened to my car
i went out today to finish cleaning my 88 trans am to get it on the road and realized that my gauges don't light up when i turn the lights on, also my tail lights don't come on when i put the lights on either.the brake lights work fine and so do the blinkers, i have no idea why its doing this. i recently tried replaceing my drivers side headlight motor with a reman. one and it doesen't work, but it did before, could i have done something to the electronics and shorted out the system doing that?please help

You may have. Have you checked the fuses? If you aren't lucky and it isn't that, it's wire check time. I blew a fuse once in a 1983 T/A, taillights were dead as well as cluster lights, but headlights worked fine. Hopefully that's what it is.

Remember, fuses usually pop for a reason... So be on the lookout for the culprit.

I'm glad it was that easy! Toehead is correct, usually fuses do blow for a reason, but in the case of my 1983, it did not happen again. If your fuse blows again (deamons? power surge?), I would look at that headlight motor you replaced first. If it never happens again, rock on!
