i know that when you turn on just the parking/fog lights the headlights are supose to stay down. but about a week ago the headlight started coming up but the lights themselve stays off when i turn on just the parking/fog light switch. just wondering if anyone has had this happened or knows how to fix it. the car is a 92 firebird.

Re: headlights
when I converted to a 1990 harness in my 82 trans am the headlight doors come up like yours when the parking lights are turned on .... I asked this question too but never got a answer, much like you I hate when they do it too and want to know the fix.

Re: headlights
I've had several customers with the symptoms you describe. Their problem went away when they repaired their headlight motors using my headlight repair kits (207280 or 209280). Here's a link customer reviews that mention the kit solving this particular problem:

Re: headlights
Maybe the motors are a possibility ... mine sound as annoying as the lights coming up .... they tend to come up and keep running for like 10 seconds and make this clacking noise they do it when they are put down as well. ... I also noticed my motor drop the headlight real fast not in a smooth way. I actually miss my 82 motors they never did this.

Re: headlights
Again, the symptoms you both describe all point to the OEM gel bushings inside the gear being bad. The headlight repair kits are the solution. The sooner you repair them the better. I say this only because if you wait too long you'll have a tough time raising the headlight bucket either manually by turning the **** or with the switch. You must raise the headlight bucket to unbolt the headlight actuator to do the repair.
