headlight switch not working

It looks like the relay(?) that plugs into the wires for the headlights that has the pull **** on it is bad as my lights are no longer working. A couple of questions here. First off, what is that part called? Is it in the fact the headlight relay? Also, I know the red wire is power, and the yellow wire is for the headlights, could I just bypass that relay for the time being and hook up a switch between the red and yellow wires? I'm just concerned with possible shorting something out, or worse. Thanks for your help.

Eric

That's the headlight switch. You can get it at any parts store.
