Hmm...unfortunatly I have not had this problem, but the one time I had dummy lights come on with no crank it turned out to be my ignition control module. Check that... (if you don't know what that is, its the little U shaped control unit directly under your distributor cap.

Never had the problem myself, but from seeing similar posts in the past, it sound like a VATS issue. Either the VATS module or a broken wire in the ignition lock cylinder.

I bet it's that damn VATS....
Easy fix to bypass it entirely... Anti Theft systems are great (and VATS is pretty good, and simple) but when you cant use your car any easier than a car thief can, it's time to cut 'em loose.

Re: 'SECURITY' light on - car won't start-HELP!!!!
Yes I did. Previous owner had that problem I gues, so they bypass the ignition and disabled VATS with some wires and connectors. One of them was loose. I dont exactly know how to disable it, but I got lucky and I had to take steering column cover off and just check for loose wires. After cleaning and reconnecting it car starts and runs like new.
My advice: it seems like VATS problem is so common, that you may find somebodys work when you take off the cover. Just check it for loose connections and GOOD LUCK. Check two yellow wires going up to the ignition switch!!!
