Pulse Wipers Question
Hey Guys, My pulse, or delay, wipers stopped working on my 87 IROC. They still work on "low" and "high" just no delay function. So here's the question, is the delay function controlled by a relay in the wiper motor itself? Or is it in the switch on the steering collum?

BOTH,......... More than likely the problem is the result of the internals under the wiper motor "cover" .

Re: Pulse Wipers Question
Okay, I replaced the winshield washer motor in the wiper motor assembly, but still no washer or pulse wipers, just high and low. I've been reading posts from other members with this same problem and many have said that the "pulse board" is the same on most late model GM cars with the delay wipers. So, how do I gain access to the pulse board? Where is it located?

Re: Pulse Wipers Question
Okay, If I go hunting through the wreck yards looking for another pulse board what is the year spead of cars that would use the same board? And did all the GM cars with pulse wipers use the same board? In other words, could I find one in say, a Buick or Cadillac?

Re: Pulse Wipers Question
Okay, I swapped out the wiper motor assembly complete with the wiper motor cover and new washer pump. I got it from Hawks ThirdGen for 35 bucks. The only change is that when I press the washer tab on the turn signal lever the wipers move where before they did not. Still no pulse. The wiper motor cover swap seems to have cured all the problems the other guys have posted. This has got me stumped.
Any ideas?

Re: Pulse Wipers Question
Well, thats what I asked them for. I spoke with them at length about my problem and I made sure they knew I wanted a pulse wiper motor assembly before I ordered. It's visually identical to the one I removed. But, I didn't see a part number on either one of the PC boards. How else would I know?

I went to the wrecking yard today to hunt for some wiper motor covers. I found one but it was soaked in water so it may not work. But I found out that the difference between pulse wipers and the two speed wipers is that there is no P/C board under the motor cover for the two speed wipers. Now I'm sure that some of you guys are saying "Duh, yeah" right now but before this I'd never opened one of those units up to look inside. And I've been a motor head since the 1970's. But if I didn't know then I'm sure there are others. Maybe this will help them out.
