I have 92 305 tbi camaro and I found a single green wire in a small loom with a black plastic connector melted on the end. It was hanging down near the knock sensor and starter.i cant find anything unplugged that it could go to anybody know what it could be for

 

LOOK UP BY THE EXAUST MANIFOLD NEAR THE DIPSTICK FOR A TEMP SENSENSOR.

 

I was going to say the same thing. Temp switch for your cooling fan.

 

how many temp sensors does the car have I have one on drivers side and one on the intake is there another I have looked and havent found anthing but will look again

 

Two temp sensors, one fan switch. ECM temp sensor is in the intake manifold. Gauge cluster pickup is on the drivers side head. Fan switch is in the passenger side head.

There should be 3. One on the driver's side head for the gauge/idiot light (which ever is equipped), on the front of the intake for the ECM, and on the passenger head by the dipstick is a fan switch which looks like a temp sender.

Looks like I was beat to the punch..

 

thanks guys i will look harder have you guys looked at my tread about my car dieing in gear look at it and see if you can help with this problem

 

hey guys i got a few wires here, maybe you know what they are for. Im hoping one is for the temp gauge. any ideas

 

First Guess; A/C Wires ?!


The Temp wire is green and on that side of the engine bay in an 86,...... The O2 sensor wire is over there too isn't it ?

 

If i had to guess i would say O2 sensor or something on the old carb or manifold. The wires are loomed together from the main harness on the drivers side. I dont think it would be A/C.
if one of them IS the temp sending unit how would i test it to find out?

 

THE TEMP. WIRE IS GREEN. THE O2 SENSOR WIRE IS PURPLE. TOO BAD YOUR WIRES HAVE BEEN CUT. WHAT SIZE ARE THEY? COULD JUST BE THE PHOTO. BUT THEY LOOK BIGGER THAN 18 GAUGE TO ME. COULD BE AN ADD ON.

 

i guess the only way to find out is to ground the wire or put voltage to it or something to see if the gauge moves. the motor is not stock, thats why they have been cut

 

If the wires on from the ENGINE harness my guess is AC, TEMP, and Oil Pressure.

If it from the ECM harness I have NO guess !! ( o2 Sensor is on the ECM harness )
