headlamp's

Ok I have a 1991 Z28, and a friend of mine gave me some headlamp conversion kit with ultraXenon bulbs every thing fits nice and no wire cutting.
I put them in the low beam and when I turn on my light the low been is on high beam on dim and the high beam indicator light is also on, high beam work find.... after playing with it I found if the turn the low beam plug upside down so the green wire does not get connected to the low beam side of the bulb it all work fine

any idea of what is going on here the buld that was in the kit is the same number as the sealed beam light and there were in spec on it

Could you reword that or clarify that? I got a headache trying to read that and comprehend it.

Re: headlamp's

The new lights I have are a replaceable bulb type unit that uses a 9003 bulb just like the H9’s that was in the car. The bulb that I am using is Atlas ultra Xenon.
so the new lights are installed were the old sealed beam lights were on the low beam side(the out side one) when i turn on my light to low beam or just the driving lights both the low and high beam are on but the high beam is dim and the high beam light on my dash is on..... High beam work find as it should.
I played around with the wiring and found if I turn the low beam connector upside down so that only the two side prongs are used, the lights work find but when I go to high beam only the inside light is on not both.

Re: headlamp's

Do the bulbs have 3 prongs on the backside? Did your old sealed beams only have 2 prongs?

This sentence made no sense.. I'm trying to help ya man, but you really gotta use complete sentences that someone can comprehend.

You're old bulbs, they had 2 prongs?
The new ones, they have 3?

Re: headlamp's

I think what he meant was "too" instead of two. New and old bulbs 3 prongs.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I think I get what you're talking about now.. How did you hook up the new lights? They came with a harness correct? Any way you can get pictures?

So just to clarify.. when you turn your high beam on, the new lights you got appear to be dim and look like they're barely lit. But when you flip the connector upside down so the middle prong isn't used, only the low beam works and the high beam doesn't light up at all? Is that right..

If that's the case, they weren't wired up properly, or you have a loose connection. But again, I could help more if you could somehow post some pictures of the wiring connections.

Re: headlamp's

sorry guy's i will try to get some pic to help out
the new lights are 3 prong...
the new lights are the ones i'm having the problem with. They are setup to be low beams.

When I turn my low beams on, the high beam light is on "dim" and the indicator light in the dash is also on.
When I switch to high beams, they work fine.

What I've done is turn the low beam connector upside down, and the lights will work fine except on "high beam".
When on high beam, only the high beam lights are on, not both.

Hope this clarifies my problem. Thanks.

Re: headlamp's

Yeah pictures will definitely help. Be sure to get ones of the connections and pictures of the lights like you described. Odds are that you probably just got a couple of wires criss crossed.
