Wipers only going up about 2 inches
I recently swapped out my broken 92 tilt column and replaced it with a 94 and now for some reason when I turn on my windshield wipers, they only go up and down about 2 inches and they only work in the full on position, no delay, but when I hit the wiper juicer they go all the way up and down like normal. Also the high beam dimmer doesnt work so I only have low beams. COuld it be something defective with the switch, or momst likely a problem in the wiring to the system. I noticed that the wiper motor appears to be jamming when I turn them on high and you can hear and watch the reciprocating motion but it clunks when it gets to a certain point.

your wiring is off. check the colors at the connection at the bottom of the column

Re: Wipers only going up about 2 inches
figurd it had something to do with the wiring seeing how its a 94 column in a 92 car. OK I checked the harnesses and heres how it lays out... on the '92 port the wires are M-pink with black stripe L-Grey K- Black J- Grey with black stripe. on the 94 column it goes M-Pink L-grey K-blue J-Black any ideas on how to bypass/rewire that?

Re: Wipers only going up about 2 inches
Anyone else have any helpful information on this? Mine is doing the same thing after replacing the section of my steering colum with one out of a '95 T/A so I could have the keylock for a manual seeing that the manual 3rd gen columns are few and far inbetween to find.

I have an 89 that had similar problems. I had power to the multi-function switch in the column, but sometimes minimal out or even none. I could direct wire power to the wiper motor and would work fine. Replaced the switch and worked fine. Dunno if that helps, but a route to check out.

I dunno if switching the wire colors to match, would be as simple as that. But where the wire plugs in, you can use a pick/probe (tiny nail) to release the wire end, pull them out, then plug them back in, to match wire color to wire color. So when the 2 plugs are reconnected, gray to gray, black to black, etc.
I put 4th gen mirrors on my GTA, and the plugs were identical, but the wires didn't match up. Up = up, down =down, but left= right and right = left. So I switched 2 wires, and all was good.

Re: Wipers only going up about 2 inches
That would work great but the wire colors on my new column ( 94 ) dont match the colors of the harness on the car ( 92 ) So the only way I could see fixing the problem is to check the manual to see which two wires are for the wiper and which 2 are for the CC in my book and look while im at Autozone ( open one ) and look for a 94 then splice em together with heatshrink and solder

Re: Wipers only going up about 2 inches
After looking at the wiring diagrams for both 3rd and 4th gen's the only way to make it work is to install the 3rd gen switch. The power for the park feature comes from the wiper switch in the 3rd gen. But is wired seperate from the switch on the 4th gen. If you want the diagrams I can send them to you. Change a wiper switch is not to hard just time consuming and lots of tools. Mike
