Engine swap now need help wiring
Ok, I just swapped from a 1988 305 TBI to a built 383.
One of the problems I expected is wiring. I know that I can get it running using the old wiring and I will have lots of extra leftover wires and such. That is not my goal.
I want to keep my air conditioning. I tried to swap all the sensors that were on my old engine over to the new one. I have 2 coolant temp sensors, 3 Oil pressure sensors. (I'm not sure why there were 3, one is the sender for the fuel pump, one is for the gauge and idk what the other is for.) I have my alternator starter and fan. Then I also have an electric choke, distributor and MSD 6A box.
I would have LOVED to get rid of the ECM and all the spare wires and wire something else myself, but unfortunatly I dont have the knowledge to do such a thing. I also think that the computer controls the air conditioning and some of the sensor/ senders.
Can anyone help me out big time on what I should do?

I've been doing my research alot more and found that not many of the components run through the computer. You need to either wire the fuel pump to your ignition or to a switch. Other then that the rest of the wires connected to the computer can go. The Gauges are all run seperatly apparently. The fan switch i am working on but am pretty sure it is seperate from the computer, maybe someone can chime in with some advice. Even the A/C is seperate then the computer. If you find any good info let me know.

the sticky on v6 to v8 swap, the part of the harness says that the main harness will disconnect from the vehicle or separate from the vehicle. the main harness goes through the firewall to the fuse box. will i need to seperate from fuse box? the sticky makes it seem easy, i must be missing something. i am trying not to chop up the harness, but i have separated the wire loom from wires to find certain accessories that are in the wire harness. am i on the right track?
will follow from fuse box and remove wires i don't need. i know that from searching the post that there is some conflicting info. but i will succeed and get my baby running. this is good first wiring project with good exp. thanks.

you should be able to get it running, then work on getting rid of the other wires, and the computer isnt on the same side as the fuse box... If you get it running, which isnt really hard, all you need is power and ground then you could disconnect things when its running to see if you need it or not. Thats one way to do it atleast
