88 IROC A/C clutch diode?
I have had a failure of the ESC module recently due to a failed A/C clutch diode...I think? At least all had been great until I decided to test the A/C, after about 5-10 sec's the ignition died. I have the wiring circuit info but no reference on the diode itself, can someone help with the diode ratings so I can find a part at the local electronics shop....is it a standard rectifier or surge suppressor?

It would be just an ordinary 1A 50V rectifier diode (1N4001). It's job is to short out the inductive kickback from the clutch as it is turned off, in order to protect the ECM. You can of course go with a 3A 1000V diode (1N5408) if it fits, to ensure a long life. It doesn't cost much more.
It's easy to measure if it's shorted out, just pull the plug and measure, it would be less than 1 Ohm (both ways) if in case.
