Alternator help

Hey, I was wondering a few things.
1.)Can a camaro be driven without the alternator working right?
-If so, is it bad for the car?
2.)Where would you suggest buying an alternator?
3.)How hard is it to replace it?
-Can I replace it myself?

thanks for any help, sorry if this is somewhere, I looked around a little bit but didn't find it. you can just delete this and PM me if Its posted somewhere else.

thanks,
Justin

Re: Alternator help

definatly buy an altenator.. a car will run off the battery for a short time before its completely drained

pretty easy to replace. remove serp belt disconect wireing.. 1 ground 2 connector remove associated bolts 3-4 i think on most

reassemble

easily replaced

Re: Alternator help

Where would you suggest getting an alternator from? just a local parts store, or online somewhere?

Re: Alternator help

local parts store will work fine.. just tell them what year model and engine/trans. im sure they can help you find the right one

have it tested before u leave the store... i had a bad altenator from napa.. installed i had it for 2 days before the bearing were shot.. good note replaced under warrenty.. kinda funny taking the altenator out in the parking lot of a parts store
