Radio clock always on?

Radio clock always on?

Car: 87 Z-28, 305, 4bbl, automatic ERSS factory radio
Question: The clock on my radio stays on even when you remove the key. I don't drive the car much, so I can't remember if that's normal or not. Have an issue with battery drain.

I don't believe that the clock on the radio should stay on. Of all of the GM vehicles through here none do this. Although later year models you can push the on/off-volume **** and get the time. After a few seconds it turns back off.

If the radio fuse doesn't power anything required, pull the fuse and see if the drain goes away.

Pulled the fuse, drain gone. According to the electrical schematics I should trace a orange wire to find the problem. Does this sound right?
