underdash toggle switch?

Hello,
I have a 86 Z28. Upon inspecting my wiring yesterday, I found a toggle switch located next to the OBD port mounted onto the center councel. What is this switch used for? There was no way to access it unless the underside of the dash is removed. Thanks.

Re: underdash toggle switch?

Hello Kirk welcome to TGO.

That toggle switch is more than likely something added over the years probably a kill switch since there was no factory anti-theft. I would say to trace the wires, I wouldn't recommend switching it until you know what it does, basing this off of past car with wired in kill switch I bumped with my knee and then it wouldn't do anything but flash the lights and I had to start it with a screw driver on the starter to get around.

Or you can always just put the underside of the dash back on and forget about it.

Could also be a valet switch for an aftermarket alarm system.

Re: underdash toggle switch?

Thanks. I was thinking that it was a cut-off switch, and I did flip it to test it out, but nothing.. Finally took the time to trace the wires, and wa-la... nuffin. They terminate into some elec tape..

Hmmm, I think I could think of something to use it for.

Thanks again.
