My 92 camaro does the same thing. I found that if you take the light cover off and kinda jiggle it it sometimes makes that center tail light come back on, but then when I hit a bump and it goes back to how it was before, it stops working again. Anyone? Please help

 

I would suspect a possible wiring issue could be the cause, maybe an open circuit between the brake switch and the 3rd brake lamp. Or it could be the brake switch itself. Even though the other brake lamps are working the brake switch is like two switches in one, it could be pulling the switch closed on one side but not the other. I would check the wiring first though to try and pinpoint the problem.

My 86 TA does the same thing, but my bulbs are fine. Is there a wire that's supposed to connect into the back or something? Nothing is being fed into it and I'm not sure what's supposed to be connected to it.

Yes, I have an 86 so mine is located at the top of the hatch.

 

K just learned something. If you have defrosters, that is the power source to the top hatch 3rd brake light. I learned this by putting shocks in. now they work. So theres an idea

 

Do the defrosters have to plug into the third brake light or the shocks? They're plugged into the shocks right now.
