New Motor, Dual fans killing Battery?
I just got my new 358 in and were running dual fans and one fans connected to
the ignition and the other fan runs to a fuse. But after two weeks its constantly killing my battery and I don't know if i should buy a new one or re-route the fan wiring. I got a new alternator about a year ago so i don't think it could be that.
Maybe its the wire to the fuse? doesn't one side run straight to the battery and the other is through the alternator. Any info would help!

Re: New Motor, Dual fans killing Battery?
You could leave both fans directly to the battery if you used a 30/40 amp relay and energized using the ignition.. I particularly don't like to tap into a power source off the ALT. The fans really don't need to engage unless the car in on anyway. I did see someone that ran a timing delay module in there setup so it would run upto 5 minutes after all power was off to help cool the engines..

If you have had your battery load tested and there isn't a problem, you can eliminate that as a problem right off. I wasn't sure what you meant by kicking off one of the fans though.

Re: New Motor, Dual fans killing Battery?
Well i had my battery load tested and they said it was good, i never saw it go under 11.5 volts/amps?
But one of my fans is running off a relay which runs to the battery, and the other fan runs off the fuse box where it points to radio, but there is no fuse other than the fan wire.
But its draining the battery FAST. the fans draw 24.5 amps.
can you run a fan directly off the battery if you use a relay?

Is the alternator just not producing enough amperage for the fans? I don't know how much left over power a stock alternator produces

I still don't understand something. Have you hard-wired one or both of your electric fans into the ALT wire? If you have, I personally think this is a bad idea. The Alt's main purpose is to replentish the battery. The battery carries all the responsiblity for Electric storage and this is where you need to be wiring to or a junction block.. If your batteries are dying if the car is off, You already said you load tested the battery's. You need to isolate the problem where the energy draw is coming from. And if your fan(s) are hard wired to work even if the car is off, That would be a good place to start.

By ALT you mean the main positive wire running to the battery?
If so yes, both fans are running off of a relay and some type of fuse, but then one branches off to the fuse box and the other runs straight to the battery positive. I'll get some pictures up tonight.
