gauge problems

Ok i have only had my car for about a week. When i test drove it (bought 2nd hand) it drove fine. Now the speedometer cuts in and out along with the odometer. Not only that, the gas gauge dosent work at all. This is really annoying as i dont know how fast im goin unless the speedometer decides to come back up. im thinkin that theres a loose wire or something since it just randomly comes on/off. But the biggest problem is the gas guage. When i bought it had no idea the guage was broken, noticed it after i put $20 in it and it didnt move not at all. It being a 15 gallon tank, and i put little over 5 gallons of preminum in it and it dont move. How would i fix these problems.
thanks

Re: gauge problems

Welcome to TGO, hybr1d. Both problems are common to these cars. The speedo may have to do with the VSS, the fuel gauge with the gauge itself or the sender in the tank. A search will provide a wealth of info.
